I had to come all the way from the highways and byways of Tallahassee, Florida to Motor City, Detroit to find my true love. If you gave me a million years to ponder, I would never have guessed that true romance and Detroit would ever go together. And til this day, the events that followed…

What’s the furthest place from here?It hasn’t been my day for a couple years. What’s a couple more?
And if I go, don’t forget the one good thing I almost did.I learned your name without words.I used my eyes, not my hands.
What’s the closest you can come to an almost total wreck, and still walk away, all limbs intact?
And when I go, you’ll be there crying out, begging me.I won’t hear.I’ll just go fast into this night on broken legs.
What’s the meanest you can be to the one you claim to loveAnd still smile to your new found friends?
In the same confusing breath, you pull away and draw me in.I wanted you. You wanted more.I built this life and now it’s mine.

The DA collective was recently asked to be a part of an art exhibition here in San Francisco. The show is at Incline Gallery (766 Valencia St) and is open to the public now until Friday, April 4th. The homies involved are Juan Gabe (photo 1), Ian Anderson (photo 2), Scott Picaman (photos 3 and 4), John McCarthy (photo 5) and Tanner McCardle (photos 6 and 7). Each of them have a brand new piece (or two or four) displayed at the gallery along with 2 other collectives showing their crews as well.

To make things a little more interactive, we also set up one of our newspaper bins (photos 8 and 9) and filled it with a brand new YOUTHANIZED zine by John. This bin will be refilled with free DA shit while the exhibit runs.

Lastly, we got dozens of DA affiliates to contribute photos, drawings, writings, words, tags and more to fill up an installation titled “Punk Bedroom” (photo 10). Homies included in this are (but not limited to) Ben Sears, Kyle Camarillo, Kris Udekwu, the ALoveToken crew, the Blood Of the Young crew and myself.

So if you find yourself around The Mission, get over to Incline Gallery before April 4th. Check out the pieces, take a photo in the bedroom that we all grew up around and grab some free shit out of the bin. Thanks for the love.

Peace.
